महाराजा अग्रसेन जी अग्रवाल समाज के आराध्य पूर्वज और परंपरागत रूप से अग्रोहा के संस्थापक माने जाते हैं। उनका नाम समाज सेवा, सहयोग, अहिंसा और जनकल्याण जैसे आदर्शों के साथ सम्मानपूर्वक लिया जाता है।
परंपराओं के अनुसार, उन्होंने ऐसा समाज बनाने की प्रेरणा दी जिसमें व्यापार, परिश्रम, पारस्परिक सहयोग और सभी के कल्याण को महत्व दिया जाता था।
आज भी उनके आदर्श समाज को एकता, शिक्षा, सेवा और प्रगति के मार्ग पर आगे बढ़ने की प्रेरणा देते हैं।

प्रारंभिक जीवन एवं परंपरा
पारंपरिक कथाओं में महाराजा अग्रसेन जी को सूर्यवंशी राजा और राजा वल्लभ के पुत्र के रूप में वर्णित किया जाता है। उनकी जीवनगाथा अग्रवाल समाज की सांस्कृतिक और धार्मिक परंपरा का महत्वपूर्ण हिस्सा है।
अग्रोहा की स्थापना
परंपरा के अनुसार, महाराजा अग्रसेन जी ने अग्रोहा को अपने राज्य का केंद्र बनाया। वर्तमान अग्रोहा हरियाणा के हिसार जिले में स्थित है। पुरातात्त्विक साक्ष्य बताते हैं कि यह क्षेत्र प्राचीन काल में व्यापार और जनजीवन का एक महत्वपूर्ण केंद्र था।
सहयोग और समानता का संदेश
महाराजा अग्रसेन जी से जुड़ी लोकप्रिय परंपरा में जरूरतमंद नए परिवारों को बसने और अपना जीवन शुरू करने में सहयोग देने की भावना मिलती है। इसे पारस्परिक सहायता, आत्मनिर्भरता और सामाजिक एकता के आदर्श के रूप में याद किया जाता है।

अग्रवाल समाज और 18 गोत्र
अग्रवाल समाज की पारंपरिक मान्यता महाराजा अग्रसेन जी को समाज का पूर्वज मानती है। प्रचलित कथा में उनके 18 यज्ञों और 18 गोत्रों का उल्लेख मिलता है। इन परंपराओं का संबंध समाज की पहचान और वंश परंपरा से है।
आज की विरासत — अग्रोहा धाम
आज अग्रोहा धाम महाराजा अग्रसेन जी और माता महालक्ष्मी से जुड़ा एक प्रमुख धार्मिक एवं सांस्कृतिक स्थल है। यहाँ का आधुनिक मंदिर परिसर 1976 में शुरू हुआ और 1984 में मुख्य मंदिर का निर्माण पूरा हुआ।
